Sunday School
During a majority of the school year, children 3K through 5th grade have the opportunity to participate in our Sunday School program. Our Sunday School program takes places during the 10:30am worship service. During the worship service, the Pastor will have the children gather for a message, after which they head downstairs for the Sunday School curriculum. The children will then return to worship prior to communion.
Our curriculum is based on a combination of the Sparkhouse Lectionary Series, that is a Bible-based, age-appropriate curriculum which tracks along with the Gospel readings from that Sunday’s worship service and basic teachings about:
-
The BibleJesus' teachings
The seasons of the church (Advent, Christmas, Lent, Easter, Pentecost, etc.)
How to Pray
We welcome all children ages 3 to 11 to participate, and encourage high school students, parents, grandparents and any other members of our church to volunteer to help with our program. Please contact the church office for more information.

A Journey of Faith
Baptism and Worship, Sunday School and VBS, Confirmation/Affirmation of Baptism, lifelong attendance in Worship and reading of Scripture, and living a Christ-centered life in service to God's people! This is a typical (but not only) sequential journey of faith development in the Lutheran tradition.
An important part of the journey of faith for young people before they affirm their baptism is education in what it means to be a Lutheran Christian. We look at God's activity of love since the beginning of creation--bringing together the bits and pieces learned over time into a whole picture of that love. We talk about what it means to be a person graced by God in and through Jesus Christ. We learn about how to live a life caring for the poor, the lost and the lonely. We practice forgiveness and service to those in need.
The classes take place over a two-year period of time, September through May. The Pastor teaches the course with assistance from lay members. Any youth in 7th or 8th grade is welcome to be part of the classes with their friends. Membership at Immanuel is not a requirement to attend confirmation classes. Parents are always welcome to observe the classes.
We are a congregation graced by God's incredible love. All are welcome to worship and to receive the Lord's Supper. If you have questions, please call the church and ask to speak to the Pastor.
